Lars Karlsson, Global Head of Trade and Customs Consulting at Maersk, is one of the
best-known and experienced customs leaders in the world, with an extensive background over
four decade in customs, borders and international trade policy. Prior to his current executive
position at Maersk, he was CEO and MD of KGH Global Consulting, and is a former Director at
World Customs Organization and former DG of Swedish Customs - where he initiated standards
and models used in international trade today. Lars Karlsson is senior advisor to governments,
international institutions and multinational companies globally and has acted as independent
senior advisor to both EU and UK on Brexit. He serves as Commissioner on the UK Trade
Facilitation Commission and a member of the UK Cabinet Office Expert Advisory Group. He was
advisor to the EU Wise Persons Group on Challenges Facing the Customs Union (WPG). He is
Doctor of Education (HC) and holds a Master of International Customs Law, being an
acknowledged author, speaker, influencer and board member of international think-tanks and
research networks. Lars Karlsson is an acknowledged speaker, author of several books and has
been published in various academic journals. He has visited 174 countries and has worked in
more than 135 across all regions of the world.
