Mr. (Carl) Shane Campbell has over 29 years of Federal Service with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), serving in a variety of key management positions with CBP including Deputy Executive Director, Operations (OPS); Area Port Director – Chicago, Director, Integrity and Professionalism Standards Division (IPSD); and Assistant Area Port Director-Tactical, Boston, MA.
Mr. Campbell is currently the Acting Executive Director, Cargo and Conveyance Security (CCS) which is responsible for strategic support and operational oversight of cargo and trade activities and resources in the field. CCS evaluates and oversees cargo policy for air, land, and seaports-of-entry. CCS supports the protection of revenue and CBP’s ability to detect, deter and disrupt illicit activities in cargo and trade environments.
Prior to CCS, Mr. Campbell was the Area Port Director for the Area Port of Chicago with oversight of approximately 650 law enforcement and civilian employees who provide a full array of passenger and cargo services throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and northwest Indiana. Mr. Campbell had operational oversight of CBP operations at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), one of the world’s busiest airports and Chicago Midway Airport.
Previously, Mr. Campbell served as the Deputy Executive Director, Operations Directorate, Office of Field Operations, Headquarters where he served in an operational advisory capacity assisting the Executive Director at Field Operations Headquarters, supporting CBP Executive Leadership and 20 major field offices, 328 ports of entry, and 16 Preclearance stations in Canada, Ireland, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.
