Mr. Ryan Rawding is Vice President for BigBear.ai’s Homeland Security Sector, where he leads strategic initiatives advancing border security, trade facilitation, and supply chain resilience through artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and biometric technologies. He also previously served as Project Lead for the development of anomaly detection algorithms and identity analytics solutions supporting customs and border agencies worldwide.
Previously, Mr. Rawding served as Acting Assistant Director of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) National Targeting Center, overseeing one of the United States most critical border security and trade enforcement operations. He led a workforce of more than 400 officers and analysts focused on counterterrorism, transnational crime, trade-based money laundering, migration, and narcotics interdiction, and was instrumental in operationalizing machine learning, facial recognition, and predictive analytics across CBP targeting systems.
Mr. Rawding began his career as a CBP Officer at John F. Kennedy International Airport and brings over two decades of frontline and executive leadership experience in customs and border operations.
In parallel with his civilian career, Mr. Rawding is a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard Reserve with more than 23 years of service. He currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the U.S. Coast Guard at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, providing strategic counsel on maritime security, joint operations, and interagency coordination at the national level. His operational background includes maritime law enforcement, port and waterway security, counter-narcotics, and migrant interdiction.
Combining operational command experience, policy leadership, and advanced technology integration, Mr. Rawding is a recognized expert and frequent keynote speaker on the future of border management, digital identity, AI-enabled targeting, and international supply chain security.
