Session 7: Data‑Driven Decisions for Sustainable Supply Chains

29 Jan 2026 11:40 12:30

Panel Session

Climate targets, circulareconomy pledges, consumer expectations and evolving environmental regulations are rapidly reshaping global supply chains and pushing Customs beyond traditional enforcement. Today’s GreenCustoms agenda spans HS-code updates for green and circular-economy goods, risk-based targeting of polluting or illegal shipments, facilitation measures for low-carbon products, and partnership with environmental authorities to uphold sustainability commitments.

This session will show how Customs can turn trade and logistics data into actionable environmental insights—pinpointing high-risk, high-impact shipments and enabling sustainable trade policies. Speakers will present hands-on examples—from HS-code mapping tools that flag environmental goods, to joint Customs–environment agency risk frameworks, to “green corridors” that streamline clearance for certified green products—demonstrating how border operations can be simultaneously more sustainable, compliant and efficient.

Participants will leave with a clear roadmap for implementing Green Customs reforms in line with WCO guidance and global climate and biodiversity goals, including governance steps, technology enablers and multi-stakeholder collaboration models.
